Proposed Vodacom Mast
-
There is a proposal pending for a Vodacom mast on top of the Biodiversity research building. (request for objections closed 16 October 2008). Vodacom has confirmed that an appeal against the mast was lodged by Fernwood residents in January this year. This will result in a substantial delay as the application has to go via DEDP in the Provincial Government. It has been assigned a case officer who takes the case through Province. Eventually the Minister there makes a final decision. Estimated duration of process is 6 to 8 months. It will be slower due to the switchover of government that is now pending. Vodacom's position is that they have a consultant driving the appeal from their side as they are seeking to get the objections dismissed.
